Around the World

Sorry for the long delay since my last post. I have been traveling like a fiend for the past 6 months. So far I have been to Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Lake Tahoe, Dayton OH, San Antonio, and Dillingham Alaska. Quite the whirlwind tour. I am happily settling back down in A-town. Here are a few photos to update all my fans :)

A few more downhilling pics

Lucy is a bad a**. that is her on the above.

Pink

As you can see from this pic, I got some fancy new hot pink pedals for my baby blue bike. They go really well with the pink body armor I wear for downhilling. I also recently acquired a full face helmet which I got just in the nic of time as I actually fell off the rock you see in this pic. In case you can't tell, its about a 6 or 7 foot drop. I landed on my back. fotunately I wear pink pads!

Biking with sonia

finally went riding

yeah! I finally went riding again. It has been a while since my last mountain bike ride. As some of you know, I tore was quadracep muscle pretty good. It has been about 7 weeks since my last cross country ride. I rode McDowell mountain a few days ago. It happens to be the best trail I have ridden in phoenix, unfortunately, it took me three years to find it. Just my luck, I finally found a great trail 1 week before I move back to california. Another slightly unfortunate decision was bringing my downhill bike on a crosscountry ride. Not only does the bike weigh a freakin ton, but my derailer is bent, so I couldn't shift gears. It was kinda like riding a tank up the face of a mountain. 12 miles later, my friends were sitting in the parking lot waiting for me as I exhaustingly rolled up dripping sweat from every pore in my body. The long ride was well worth it though, I got see a rattlesnake. I attempted to take a picture of it with my new digital camera that i can hardly work. I couldn't figure why the picture wouldn't take until i realized I was taking a video of the snake. I have attempted to attach the accidental video, hope it works. It was a beautiful diamond back snake. i also snapped a couple of quick pics from the trail. I am hopefully going downhilling in a few days, may be able to get some more pics then.

RIDE ON!

Last Day

I officially finished my last day of the third year of medical school yesterday. I went down in style. I had one patient walking through the ward smoking a tampon like a cigarrette. I had a little mexian patient tell me "I just can't get rid of this bloody accent", in the worst fake British accent I have ever heard. And, I had another patient tell me that I had to leave the room because I was being motivated by evil spirits. Now, I have always tried to be motivated by good, even Godly spirits, but this man saw the evil within me. I think I accidently clicked my pen, and that is why he sensed my evil motivations. So, all in all it was just another day at work. I am however glad to be done with the third year, and I am very ready to move on. I start off my 4th year with a bang. Dad and I are going to costa rica for the month on a medical mission. I then get to spend a few weeks at home before I take the second part of my licensing exam. After that, the military gets me for two months. Then off to Alaska! Quite a bit of traveling coming up for me, but I can't wait. At least it will get me away from the blazing hot Arizona summer. Oh ya, I finally got my new camera, so hopefully some more pictures will be coming shortly:)

Elderly beat down

first of all, I think our society underestimates the sheer strength of the elderly population. When given the right motive and opportunity, the over 65 population can give a pretty mean a** whoopin. I was officially jumped by a 66 year old lady at work yesterday. Some of you may know that I am currently working at an emergent psychiatric center, so needless to say this lady was a little nuts. While she may have protrayed herself as a kindly frail old lady, she was actually a deceptively strong and somewhat vicious woman on the prowl. With my back turned this older woman lept from the shadows and pounced upon me. In my horror and fear of hurting her, I froze under the attack. As the woman pushed me and pulled at my clothes our tussell was seen by the lingering staff members. They rushed to my aid and managed to pry the crazy old bat off of me. It wasn't until the woman was pulled away and pinned to the ground that I realized I had received a beat down from an old timer. It has been the antisocial psychotic men that I have been weary of since the start of the rotation, I now know it to be the sly elderly folks who pose the greatest threat. The moral being, don't underestimate the slightly aged members of our society.

the monster revealed

so i have been running and mountain biking the trails out in az now for about three years. Since i moved here i have wanted to see a Gila monster. they are a beautiful lizard that is has highly toxic saliva. for the past three years this amazing lizard has elluded my everwatchful eye. on easter sunday, Lusana and I went mountian biking in the white tank mountains, and at last the monster revealed itself to me. while carrying my big a** bike up the mountain I stumbled upon a basking gila monster. i wanted to take a pic, but alas i lost my camera. I have included a picture of the native beast for those of you who care to see the beauty of this reptile. I have also included a pic of an even more beatiful sight, my downhill Brodie mountain bike, the Recluse. enjoy!

does this work

well this i s my first post, so bear with me. I am a bit technologically challenged. I didn't even get a cell phone till a few years ago. I will try to add some pics as i go, but i recently lost my digital camera so they may be slow in coming. I don't have any cute stories of childhood whims like casey, but i figured i could give some updates. i am starting my psychiatry rotation on monday, so i might get some good stories from the crazies pretty soon.
